Private family intervention in Cheshire

We provide discreet, planned drug and alcohol interventions for families across Cheshire — Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Knutsford, Prestbury, Hale Barns and the wider county. Our team attends in person, the work happens privately, and the goal is your loved one in treatment of your choosing, without a public footprint.

How we work across Cheshire

The first conversation is confidential, by phone or WhatsApp. We listen, ask a small number of clinical and practical questions, and tell you honestly what we think your family’s next step is — even if it isn’t us.

If we proceed, planning takes roughly a week or two. We attend in person across Cheshire for the preparation meetings, at a venue you control — a home, an office, a quiet hotel. The treatment placement is secured before the intervention day, so there is no waiting list and no insurance phone call when the moment comes. The day itself is a single calm, prepared conversation of forty-five to ninety minutes, with the family rehearsed and the route to the programme already arranged. We handle the transport — door to door, by car or by flight — and the handover at the clinic. After discharge, we coordinate the case management for the months that follow.

Alderley Edge & Prestbury

We attend in person and plan with press-sensitivity built in from the first call. For families here who want total separation from the UK private treatment circuit, we coordinate the international placement, the medical clearances, the travel and the discreet handover at the door of the programme. We have done this many times.

Wilmslow & Hale Barns

We coordinate the intervention with full attention to family-business considerations — who runs operations during the treatment month, what is said to staff, what isn’t. We are comfortable working alongside trustees, family-office principals and senior advisors when the family wants them looped in, and we wait for permission before we do. The same applies to the boundary work that often follows; our main-site piece on setting healthy boundaries is a useful starting point for the conversations after the day.

Knutsford & the wider county

We travel anywhere across Cheshire, including the rural-edge estates between Knutsford and Macclesfield. The style of intervention we use most often here is the slower-burn, less-confrontational kind — closer in tone to a planned family conversation than a stand-off. Our main-site article on how to talk to a loved one about rehab is the most useful pre-read for families who want to understand the style before we meet.

Treatment placement: UK or abroad

The treatment placement is part of the work and we secure it before the day. Private rehab inside the UK starts at roughly £14,000 per month and rises sharply at the premium end — Surrey, Wiltshire, Edinburgh and the Cotswolds for the more discreet clinics. Excellent clinical care, English-speaking staff. The trade-off is that the UK private treatment industry is small and the right people within it know each other.

For families who want full geographic separation, we work with vetted programmes abroad at roughly £7,000–£10,000 per month for care that is often equal or better. Switzerland for medical sophistication and total privacy. South Africa for clinically rigorous residential programmes at materially lower prices. Thailand for long-stay residential care. Costa Rica for nature-based programmes. The United States for specific specialisms. Our piece on going abroad for rehab covers the trade-offs in detail.

What an intervention costs

The intervention itself starts at £4,000. The final figure depends on the planning time the case requires, sober transport (especially when international), and the case management we provide after discharge. We give a written estimate before any money changes hands. We do not accept commission, referral fees or any other form of payment from any treatment programme, anywhere — our income comes entirely from the families we work with.

Why families in Cheshire call us

Hunter Shepard, our co-founder, has spent his career working with families whose private lives carry public consequence — established estates in the UK and abroad, trustee-involved decisions, complex international family structures, and adult children whose recovery affects the next generation’s inheritance as much as their own. He has personally transported clients safely between continents and managed clinic handovers in Switzerland, South Africa, Thailand, Costa Rica and the United States.

Michael Brown, our other co-founder, leads case management and the post-treatment continuity that the first weeks home depend on. Our team includes on-the-ground specialists in the UK who attend interventions in person.
