Private family intervention in London
We provide discreet, planned drug and alcohol interventions for families across central and north London — Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Chelsea, Kensington, Westminster, Hampstead — and across the Hertfordshire commuter belt. Our team attends in person, the work happens privately, and the goal is your loved one in treatment of your choosing, with no public footprint.
How we work across London
The first conversation is confidential, by phone or WhatsApp. We listen, ask a small number of clinical and practical questions, and tell you honestly what we think the next step is — even if it isn’t us.
If we proceed, we attend in person across London at a venue you control — the family home, a private dining room, a country house, a discreet office. Planning typically takes a week or two, sometimes longer for cases with complex international, business or fiduciary considerations. The treatment placement is secured before the intervention day, so there is no waiting list and no insurance call when the moment comes. The day itself is a single calm, prepared meeting; the family is rehearsed, the route to the programme is already arranged, and we handle the transport door-to-door — by car, train, private flight or commercial — and the handover at the clinic. Case management continues for the months after discharge.
Knightsbridge & Belgravia (SW1, SW7)
We attend in person and plan around the press-exposure risk that defines SW1 and SW7 cases. Interventions usually happen at the family home or at a second, discreetly arranged location — not a clinic, not a restaurant — and we transport the loved one onward in vehicles that are neither marked nor traceable. We coordinate with private GPs, family-office advisors and trusted solicitors when the family asks us to, and not before.
Chelsea (SW3, SW10)
We plan around school-year and household-routine timing for Chelsea families who want the household calendar to look unchanged from the outside. Half-term or holiday timing is common. We attend in person at the venue you choose and handle the onward transport the same day.
Kensington (W8)
We handle the cross-border logistics that W8 cases routinely involve — passports, visas, schedules, medical clearances, time-zone coordination with adult children abroad. We work regularly with families whose preferred treatment placement is in Switzerland or the United States, and we handle the door-to-door transport ourselves. For families weighing private rehab abroad, our international rehab guide on the main site breaks down the trade-offs in detail.
Westminster (SW1)
We plan around the parliamentary calendar, constituency obligations, press-lobby considerations and the security implications of senior public-sector cases. Treatment placement is chosen partly for the logistical realities of what the loved one can credibly explain when they return. When the “where have you been” conversation is unavoidable, we can help draft the answer in advance.
Hampstead (NW3)
We work with Hampstead families who appreciate a more reflective, conversational style of intervention — part facilitator, part editor, part timekeeper, helping the family move from processing to action. We attend in person and pace the room accordingly.
Hemel Hempstead & the Hertfordshire commuter belt
We coordinate the intervention with attention to business succession, signatory authority and operational continuity during the treatment month — the considerations that almost always sit underneath Berkhamsted, Tring, Harpenden, St Albans and wider Hertfordshire cases. We attend in person across the commuter belt.
Treatment placement: UK or abroad
The treatment placement is part of the work, secured before the day. Private rehab inside the UK starts at roughly £14,000 per month and rises sharply for premium clinics in Surrey, Wiltshire, Edinburgh and the Cotswolds — excellent clinical care, English-speaking staff, family visits possible. The trade-off is that the UK private treatment industry is small and well-connected.
For families who want full geographic discretion, international programmes we partner with deliver equivalent or stronger care at £7,000–£10,000 per month. Switzerland for medical sophistication and total privacy. South Africa for evidence-based residential programmes at materially lower price points. Thailand for long-stay care. Costa Rica for nature-based programmes. The United States for specific specialisms — eating-disorder and addiction dual-diagnosis, trauma-informed residential care.
What an intervention costs
The intervention itself, separately from treatment, starts at £4,000. The figure varies based on the planning time the case requires, sober transport between cities or countries, and ongoing case management once the loved one is in care. We give a written estimate before any money changes hands. We do not accept commission, referral fees or any other form of payment from any treatment programme — our income comes entirely from the families we work with.
Why families in London call us
Hunter Shepard, our co-founder, has spent his career working with families whose private lives carry public consequence: established estates, family trusts, trustee-involved decisions, complex international family structures, and adult children whose recovery affects the next generation’s inheritance as much as their own. He has personally transported clients safely between continents and managed handoffs into clinics in Switzerland, South Africa, Thailand, Costa Rica and the United States.
Michael Brown, our other co-founder, leads case management and post-treatment continuity. The team includes on-the-ground specialists in the UK who attend interventions in person when the case requires it.
For high-functioning adult children and partners who are still working — the LinkedIn-fine, household-not-fine pattern — we wrote a separate piece on the main site about alcohol intervention for a functioning alcoholic, which Knightsbridge and Chelsea families read often.

When to ring
If you are reading this at two in the morning, you don’t need to decide yet whether an intervention is the right next step. A phone call, or a WhatsApp message, is enough to start. We will listen, ask a small number of clinical and practical questions, and tell you honestly what we think your family needs next — even if it isn’t us.
